Frequently Asked Questions
1. Dr. Liz, I haven't been to the dentist in 7 years. Are you going to yell at me? Our philosophy is not to scold you but to restore what has been neglected in the past and create a new whiter and brighter future for you today.
2. Dr. Liz, I read that it is dangerous for your health not to keep your mouth clean. Poor oral hygiene can be dangerous to your overall health. There is a growing body of research that suggests that infection from the oral cavity may increase the risk and complications for a number of serious diseases and conditions including heart disease and stroke. Simply put, when your gums bleed, a path for bacteria to enter your bloodstream is created and moves to distant sites in the body including the heart. More information on heart disease and stroke may be accessed from the American Heart Association.
3. I brush my teeth. Do I need to floss? Yes, you need to floss daily. Brushing and flossing go hand in hand for a brighter smile and overall better health. Flossing helps clean teeth in the areas that brushing alone just can not reach between the teeth and under your gumline. Flossing and then brushing helps remove plaque which, if left untreated, can eventually lead to gum disease and tooth decay.
4. What are some snacks to avoid? Typically the ones that stick in the grooves of the teeth such as raisins, fruit rollups, and gummy bears.
5. I am not able to get to the office until after the kids get home from school. Do you offer evening appointments? Sure, we offer morning, afternoon and evening appointments to accommodate everyone's schedule. We offer late evening appointments Monday through Thursday. |
